With the assistance of AIconExtract you can seamlessly navigate disk directories to view icons and extract icons. This an approachable software application that features intuitive options for first-time and advanced users alike. Supported file types include EXE and ICO.
Once the speedy and uncomplicated setup operation is done, you are welcomed by a common-looking window with a built-in Explorer-based folder structure to help you browse directories and examine icons.
The program shows the name, type and size, along with the total number icons, cursors and bitmaps of each file. The supported file types are written in regular black text, while the unsupported ones are shown in grey text (greyed out effect), so you can easily tell them apart.

We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the utility didn't hang, crash or prompt errors. It left a minimal footprint on system resources, running on low CPU and RAM.
On the other hand, AIconExtract hasn't been updated for a long time and its set of features is small. For example, it doesn't contain advanced customization options for more experienced users. We must also keep in mind that it hasn't been updated for a long time. Nevertheless, you can test it for yourself.
