Apex Files Converter is a software utility that enables you to convert .doc, .docx, .xml, .html, .rtf and .txt files into .doc, .html (normal and filtered web document), .mhtml (single file web document), .rtf and .txt format. It doesn't have document editing options or other advanced settings.

Setting up this program takes little time, since there are only familiar options in the wizard steps. However, it requires you to install .NET Framework.

When it comes to the interface, Apex Files Converter has a simple window with a clean appearance and well-structured layout.

In order to convert a document, all you have to do is specify the source file with the help of the file browser, destination path using the tree view, and output format by selecting a preferred option from a short drop-down menu.

The conversion procedure shouldn't take long, after which the tool shows a notification message to let you know it's over. You can open the new files to inspect results and make comparisons.

Conversion jobs were performed rapidly in our tests, during which the program remained light on system resources consumption, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly.

On the other hand, it displayed a couple of error dialogs that prevented us from converting documents. On top of that, it doesn't have richer options, especially when taking into account that there are many freebies out there with the same set of options.

For example, it doesn't support batch processing, so you can convert only one file at a time. Plus, it's not possible to preview the new documents, set metadata, or customize page preferences. Nevertheless, you can test Apex Files Converter for yourself.
