aPhoto is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help users embed a text or image watermark on their favorite pictures.

This is a portable program, so it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.

You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you to need to create watermarks on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps.

Since this is a Java-based utility, you should make sure you have previously installed the working environment on the computer, otherwise you cannot run the tool.

aPhoto sports a clean and intuitive layout that lets you import photos using the built-in browse function, so you cannot rely on “drag and drop” operations.

It works with GIF and JPG file format, and gives you the possibility to create watermarks by typing in the text directly into the primary panel and inserting images.

What’s more, you can customize the text in terms of font and size, pick the text and background color, as well as alter the RGB, saturation, and lightness values.

Other notable characteristics worth mentioning are represented by the possibility to select the watermark position, set its transparency, choose the rotation angle, and save the edited images to PNG, GIF, or BMP file format.

On the downside, it doesn’t offer support for batch processing, which means you cannot add multiple pictures and process them at the same time.

During our testing we have noticed that the tool carries out a task quickly, provides very good image quality, and no errors showed up throughout the entire process. However, just like any similar Java tools, it eats up CPU and memory, so the overall performance of the computer may be affected.

All in all, aPhoto offers an intuitive layout and a handy set of parameters, and is suitable for all types of users, regardless of their experience level.
