Unless you've never picked up a history book in your life, there's no way you've never heard of Atlantis. The city is so well known, that even saying the phrase "The lost city of...", you already feel the urge to fill the blank with its name.

Atlantis 3D Screensaver is a desktop enhancement tool that will let you get an idea of how Atlantis may look like now.

In order to keep in touch with mythology, the entire scenery is placed underwater, where fish, sharks and all another manner of sea creatures are masters of their domain. The only remnants of this once legendary city are some Greek-style ruins, and the soundtrack that makes you feel like whatever might have been there had been lost to the power of time.

The graphics are average looking, as there is nothing to praise nor is there anything to criticize, however, the soundtrack manages to pull some heartstrings, as it combines beautiful atmospheric music with subtle vocal work.

Despite the water effects and expanded map, Atlantis 3D Screensaver behaved fairly well during testing. One thing worth mentioning is that the testing was done on a high-end system, yet the app did show some performance spikes, as the animations alternated between normal speed and slowed speed every 2 seconds.

While the cause for this may be unknown, for those of you using older computer systems, it would be advised if you would access the screensaver manager to turn down some of the audio and video features.

Atlantis 3D Screensaver manages to impress not through graphics alone, but through how both soundtrack and visuals manage to mix and create a truly unique atmosphere, making it a great addition to any digital library.
