Quick Response Codes or better know QR codes are increasingly popular as they compress a great deal of information – email, phone number, vcard, links or text – compressed into a two-dimensional code. While they are widely available for mobiles, the same cannot be said about desktop computers.

Barcode2Win is a lightweight utility designed to bring this QR scanning technology to your PC. To put it simply, the idea behind the tool is to make your Android device into a Windows WiFi barcode scanner.

As previously mentioned, you need to grab the Android app in order to use the program you first need to install the dedicated Android app from Google Play. On a side note, the mobile app comes with numerous features including skipping barcodes already read within 10 minutes, detect only when preview screen is touched and detect inverted black/white barcode, to name a few.

The Windows program comes with a single window that has a unique token and that can be configured to solely accept the current one. The scanned barcodes can be copied to clipboard or you can forward them to the keyboard with various options, namely sending the keys instead of the barcode or adding Tab or Enter at the end.

According to the developer, the program is compatible with numerous types of barcodes, including, but not limited to Code-93, Code-128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Data Matrix, PDF-417, AZTEC and CodabarQR Code. At the same time, the app offers the possibility to enter a quantity after each scan which makes it ideal if you are keeping up the inventory for example.

All in all, Barcode2Win is a simple to use utility that can does not only enable you to gran barcodes, but also send them to any Windows application as keyboard inputs.
