DVD XCopy Pro is a straightforward piece of kit that facilitates DVD-to-DVD copying in a user-friendly environment that caters to all types of users.
The tool comes in handy whenever you want to back up your collection of DVD movies, especially if you are not looking for a complicated set of features that would probably slow down the entire copying process.
The interface of DVD XCopy Pro has a well-organized layout with minimum options, which resembles the one of a wizard. All you have to do is specify a DVD drive you want to back up and select the VOB files separately.
On the bottom part of the wizard you can view the total size for the first and second disc. There are no other options provided by the utility. Initializing the copying procedure is done with the click of a button.
Unfortunately, DVD XCopy Pro does not provide an option for copying the backed up VOB files to the hard drive or other location (e.g. removable device, network), as an alternative to the disk output. In other words, users are required to have two DVD optical drives installed in their computer unit, for reading and writing, respectively.
The application takes a reasonable amount of time to complete a backup job, during which is uses a low-to-moderate quantity of CPU and RAM. No error dialogs were shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash; we have not come across any issues.
On the downside, DVD XCopy Pro has not been updated for a very long time, and its list of features can definitely be improved (e.g. simulation mode, VOB preview). Other than that, the program can be handled with great ease, even by users with no experience in DVD burning tools.
