Easy CHM is a program designed to help you create HTML help files (CHM format) from HTM, HTML, MTH, pictures and other file types.
The app is wrapped in a common interface with a well-defined layout. Creating a new project is done by specifying a location and file filters.
It is also possible to configure import options when it comes to the TOC tile and icon (e.g. use full file name and the default folder icon), sorting mode (by caption or file name) and other properties (e.g. ignore empty folders, capitalize the first letter in TOC items). These settings may be restored to their default values.
Easy CHM allows you to add topics and subtopics, change icon properties in batch mode, sort or replace contents, as well as add keywords to the index or export them. It is also possible to preview the resulted file, along with its source code.
From the Preferences menu you can specify the maximum caption width and number of files, make the app remember the window status, as well as disable warning messages on deleting, replacing or sorting items. Last but not least, you can decompile a CHM item.
The simple-to-use program requires a very low quantity of CPU and system memory, so it shouldn't burden the computer's overall performance. It has a good response time and worked well throughout our evaluation, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or display error dialogs. Although it is not very intuitive, Easy CHM is an effective solution to create HTML help files.
