You do not need to be a military enthusiast to appreciate the aesthetics of modern fighter aircraft, but they are all the more impressive if you have at least a basic understanding of the amount of work that goes into getting one of these machines into the air.

The F-14 Tomcat supersonic, twin-engine fighter jet is an impressive aircraft that, although no longer in service in the US, should be all too familiar to fans of the movie Top Gun. This screen saver brings together more than 50 images of the fighter for you to enjoy on your desktop, and it offers plenty of customization options.

While the original photos are undoubtedly impressive, the variants included in this package are rather disappointing. Their resolution is quite low, which is especially noticeable on larger displays.

Also, it has to be noted that this screen saver is not optimized for widescreen monitors. The pictures will not fill up the whole screen, and tiling them is not really the best solution.

You can set the delay between pictures manually, and there are quite a few transitional effects to choose from, but they are fairly simplistic.

Images can be stretched to better fit your screen, as well as displayed in black and white. Moreover, you have the option of randomizing their order.

The included pictures can also be set as your desktop background, and the software can even cycle them automatically at a user-defined interval.

Each image is accompanied by a short description that provides you with some useful explanations, and these can be disabled if you find them to be unnecessary.

On the whole, it has to be said that this screen saver is rather disappointing, mostly due to the low quality of the included images. It has a very outdated feel, and it is not suitable for widescreen monitors.
