FireLite promises to provide enhanced protection for your computer by identifying threats before they reach the system. Its scan engine can identify viruses, backdoors, trojans, in the attempt to keep your machine safe.

The application is pretty simple and easy to work with. Its interface only comprises a few options to configure the scanning process, enabling you to start a scan in seconds.

Practically, your only task is to select the folder you want it to analyze. The application can be instructed to include or exclude sub-folders from the scanning process and scan all the files, regardless of their extension. Alternatively, you can set it to scan all drives and in this case, you don't have to select the target folder anymore.

Depending on the size of the target directory, the operation can take more or less time, but you are notified as soon as the program completes the job. Statistical data about the number of scanned files and the found infections is displayed within the main window, alongside the name and location of the suspicious or dangerous file.

FireLite can detect various worms and viruses, such as SirCam, I-Worm/BadTrans, Win32/Magistr, Hybris aka Hahaha, Kak, I-Worm/Navidad, MTX, WYX (or PollyBoot), Win32/FunLove, VBS/HomePage (or VBSWG.X), CodeRed, Word and Excel macro viruses and newer versions of the Loveletter virus. Thanks to its macro scan engine, FireLite can also identify unknown mass mailers.

FireLite aims to help you protect your system against all types of viruses, while keeping things simple for beginner users. Note that it does not feature real-time protection, only providing on-demand scanning.
