The customization of your desktop probably starts with the desktop background picture. This can be done through regular Windows features, but advanced applications like GAS Wallpaper Changer provide more options, as well as a corresponding neat visual design.

Before rushing to see what’s cool about the application, you need to check whether or not your computer is fitted with .NET Framework, because it’s one of the components it needs to functions. Other than that, there’s nothing to worry about, with the accommodation process itself making sure you have a new wallpaper configured within the next few seconds.

The visual design is pretty neat, with high-quality textures for all panels and sections, making it easy to to tell functions from one another. Adding files can either be done by manually picking JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, or TIF files from multiple locations, or uploading an entire directory with all its subfolders.

Wallpaper settings are similar to those of the default Windows personalization tool, giving you the possibility to configure slideshow interval starting from 10 seconds to custom values in minutes, hours or days, whether to shuffle through them, and change on system startup. In addition, you can have the wallpaper changed at random moments.

For the startup setting to work, you might want to enable the application to run with Windows. More than that, visual and audio alerts can be enabled whenever the wallpaper is changed, just in case you load a fresh new pack and want to view all of them when they come up.

As soon as you’re done with wallpaper and general settings, you can close the main window, sending it to the tray area. The corresponding icon gives you the possibility to have the wallpaper changed on the spot, or cleared. Sadly, you can’t set up a hotkey command to scroll through, or at least to change.

To be fair, Windows itself comes with more than enough customization options for your computer, but if you’re not using it intensely, it should at least look pretty. Applications like GAS Wallpaper Changer might have similar tools to default ones, but you might also stumble upon others, like random change for a surprise when not expecting.
