GuitarFX is a lightweight audio application whose purpose is to help you enhance the sound quality of your guitar using various distortion effects and multi-band equalizers.

The GUI may look a bit overwhelming and crowded at a first glance but this is only because the utility integrates all of its audio parameters in a single layout. The program’s features are quite intuitive so you can easily learn how to tweak them.

In order to make use of the built-in effects, you only need to plug your guitar into the sound card input and run the tool.

GuitarFX gives you the possibility to apply various special effects, namely gain, delay, flanger, reverberator, noise gate or compression, as well as multiple types of distortion.

What’s more, you are allowed to turn on or off the selected effect, combine two or more effects in order to obtain original sounds, as well as export the FX chain to a file so you can use it in the future or share it with your friends.

The application lets you choose between several preset sound effects included within GuitarFX, such as stereo distortion, high gain distortion noise gate, ambient chorus echo distortion and others.

Last but not least, you can start or stop the process, increase or decrease the delay, pick the audio devices, adjust the sampling frequency, enable or disable the mono/stereo mode, as well as view information about WAV files, such as samples per second, bits per sample, date size, and read from file.

To sum things up, GuitarFX comes with an interesting feature pack for helping you apply various special effects to your guitar sound, and can be mastered by all types of users, regardless of their experience level. On the downside, the program hasn’t been updated for a while, so it may cause compatibility issues on newer operating systems.
