There are plenty of cloud storage services available that can help you synchronize your files across multiple devices, but many people are uncomfortable with uploading their potentially sensitive data online, and understandably so.

Lollyo is a lightweight application that allows you to access the identically named service, which is specially designed to make your local files available from multiple devices without requiring you to upload any content.

The setup process is very straightforward, but it is worth noting that a Lollyo account is required to take advantage of this service. Once a connection has been established, you only need to specify which directory you wish to share.

The program is displayed in the system tray, and you can open the predefined folder by simply double-clicking the icon. Any files stored in this location are made available to the web app almost instantly. However, it would have been great if you had the option of excluding certain items.

The Lollyo web app can be accessed from multiple devices, and you can even upload new content that will be downloaded to the computer running the desktop program automatically. Naturally, this device needs to be online whenever you wish to obtain any files, as they are transmitted directly from local storage.

Many users are likely to appreciate the fact that no data is stored in the cloud, but this also means you will not be able to access any files as long as your desktop computer is turned off.

Because no files are uploaded to the company’s servers, there is no classic storage limit, which means you can share all the files on your computer without having to worry about their size.

On the whole, Lollyo is a great alternative to cloud storage services that upload user content in order to make it available from multiple locations, but it does come with a major limitation, namely the fact that the source computer needs to be turned on whenever you wish to access your files.
