MacVideo Video Converter is an application designed to help you turn video files (e.g. AVI, MPG, MOV, 3GP) into ASF, MOV, AVI, MP4 and WMV.

But it can also prepare items for PSP, PS3, iPad and iPhone, among other devices. Plus, the tool can extract the audio stream from videos and save it to MP3, M4A, AAC, WMA, WAV and others.

The app is wrapped in a clean and intuitive interface where you can import items by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" method. It is possible to create a queue and process multiple items at the same time.

In the file list you can check out the initial and target name and format, duration, default trimmed length and estimated size of each item. If you are satisfied with the default settings, then you can immediately proceed with the conversion procedure by specifying the output directory and file type.

Otherwise, you can modify audio and video settings when it comes to the sample rate, channel mode, bit rate, codecs, resolution and frame rate. Options can be restored to default but you cannot create output profiles.

Furthermore, you can preview clips in a built-in media player and capture frames, trim and crop them, as well as apply effects (e.g. grayscale) and add watermarks (text or image). In the "Options" area you can change the snapshot directory and format, as well as open the log folder. During the encoding task, you can set MacVideo Video Converter to automatically turn off the computer when it finishes.

The video processing tool requires a high amount of system resources and can take a while to finish a task. It is very responsive, includes a help file and outputs videos with a good image and sound quality. On the downside, you cannot select the thread priority or set MacVideo Video Converter to open the output directory after conversion.
