Nidesoft DVD to AVI Converter is an application that you can use to encode DVDs to media files of multiple formats, including AVI, MPEG, WMV, MP4 and WMA. It can be used by both novices and experienced individuals.

The interface of the program is clean and pretty intuitive. You can import a DVD by using either the file browser or treeview (the "drag and drop" method is not supported). Batch processing is not allowed.

In the list you can check out the name along with original and trimmed length of the DVD. So, all you have to do is establish the output destination and file type, in order to proceed with the task.

Furthermore, you can configure audio and video settings when it comes to the resolution, bit rate, channel mode and volume, as well as preview clips in a small, built-in media player and take snapshots.

On top of that, you can merge and crop videos, trim them by marking the start and end time values or position, make image adjustments (e.g. contrast, saturation), apply special effects (grayscale, negative), select individual DVD chapters for processing, choose the audio track and subtitle stream, and more.

The DVD conversion software takes up a moderate-to-high amount of system resources, has a good response time and quickly finishes a task. No errors have occurred during our tests and Nidesoft DVD to AVI Converter did not freeze or crash.

However, the tool doesn't go a good job when it comes to preserving a good image and sound quality. Plus, there is no help file available and you cannot change program settings (e.g disable Nidesoft DVD to AVI Converter from prompting when overwriting existing files). We recommend this software with some reservations.
