Outlook Express Password Recovery is a straightforward piece of software designed to find and recover lost or forgotten passwords stored within Outlook Express. In addition to passwords, it shows the associated email addresses, logins and server addresses.

The program comes equipped with the necessary and sufficient options for completing this task, demanding minimal intervention on your behalf. It gets installed quickly and without asking for special attention.

Before proceeding any further, you should know that the tool is not designed to crack passwords using dictionary attacks or brute force. It can only detect the passwords if they are saved on your system in order to unmask them.

As far as the interface is concerned, Outlook Express Password Recovery adopts a now outdated look with a layout that's, nevertheless, intuitive. The types of passwords that can be retrieved using this tool are split into two categories: mail and identities.

Provided that you have Outlook Express installed on your computer, which is an obligatory condition, you can click the "Start Recovery" button and then wait for the app to finish the scan. It displays the recovered passwords in the main window right away, along with the other information.

Unfortunately, there are no options implemented for saving all info to file, printing it, or at least copying it the clipboard. Therefore, in case you've ended up with dozens of recovered passwords, you have to copy down the info yourself.

It carried out scan and recovery jobs quickly in our tests while having an insignificant impact on the computer's performance. Outlook Express Password Recovery hasn't been updated for a long time, though, and it's clear that it lacks some important features, such as the previously mentioned save/copy options. At the moment, it doesn't offer anything special. Similar utilities offer the same functionality for free.
