As popular as the PDF format is, you still need to convert your documents to an easily editable format every once in a while, and a specialized piece of software is required to perform this operation.

SpdPDFtoWord is a relatively simple utility that can do the job, as it enables you to convert PDF files to the popular DOC and DOCX and RTF formats. It supports batch processing, but it lacks advanced features.

It takes very little effort to export your documents using this application, whether you are converting a single file or large numbers of items. They can be imported using drag and drop, so even novices should get the hang of things easily enough.

You can select between three output formats: DOC, DOCX and RTF. Microsoft Word does not need to be installed on your computer in order to create these documents, so you can deploy the app on pretty much any system that meets the OS requirements.

Once you have imported your files, you can specify which pages should be converted or simply have the app export all of them. However, it seems that password-protected documents cannot be read.

Unfortunately, you cannot fine-tune the layout of the output documents in any way or remove images and other types of graphics during conversion.

Also, because the application does not come equipped with an OCR engine, scanned documents that do not contain selectable text cannot be converted to editable Word files.

In short, SpdPDFtoWord is a good choice for undemanding users who just need to convert one or more PDF documents quickly,  without any fuss. It is simple enough to use, and it features a fairly intuitive UI, but it only offers a basic set of features.
