Super Sound Recorder is a software application with a pretty self-explanatory name - it gives you the possibility of recording sound from various sources. It can be used by individuals of any level of experience.
The interface of the application is plain and simple to navigate through; you can get started by specifying the output destination, filename and format (MP3 or WAV), along with the recording source. It can be either from software, MIDI, audio CD, line-in or microphone.
Advanced users are free to configure audio settings when it comes to the volume, sample rate, channel mode and bit rate. In addition, you can set Super Sound Recorder to pause the recording after a particular silence interval as well as to automatically rename files if they already exist. These options can be restored to their default values.
Other features of Super Sound Recorder permit the editing of ID3 tags (when recording MP3 files), the opening of the target folder and the schedule of recordings by setting the recurring mode (once, daily or weekly) along with the start and end time. It is possible to schedule as many recording jobs as you want. Last but not least, you can preview the recordings in a built-in audio player and edit them via Super Sound Editor (e.g. copy or cut a selection, insert a one-second silence, zoom in and out).
The audio recording utility requires a low-to-moderate amount of system memory and high quantity of CPU. It has a fair response time, delivers audio tracks with a good sound quality and includes a help file. No error dialogs have been displayed during our testing and Super Sound Recorder did not freeze or crash. Unfortunately, the app has not been updated for a pretty long time. Other than that, Super Sound Recorder should satisfy users of any level of experience.
