SWF Extractor is an application that aims to help you extract sounds and images from files in the SWF format.

The interface of the tool is minimalistic and easy to work with. You can import SWFs by using the file browser or the "drag and drop" method.

So, all you have to do is press the "Extract" button, specify the output directory and which resources to retrieve (all or selected), and initiate the extraction process.

In addition, you can play the SWF file in the default media player, view file properties (e.g. MP3 format, duration, size), change the viewing mode from icons to details, as well as preview the results.

Furthermore, you can open the Internet cache, invert the selection and sort files (by type, frame, memory or dimension).

The program quickly finishes an extraction job while using a very low amount of CPU and system memory and without freezing, crashing or popping up errors.

However, SWF Extractor didn't manage to extract images from any SWF files that we have tested, but only the MP3 files. Also the shareware version alters the sound quality, so you cannot properly evaluate it.

Moreover, the interface is outdated, so improvements are very welcomed, from this point of view. And batch processing is not supported. Evidently, our biggest disappointment is the program's failure to extract images (we tested SWF Extractor on both Windows XP and 7). But feel free to test the tool for yourself.
