There is a good chance you’ve heard of the Pomodoro Technique before, which involves partitioning your time into work and break intervals designed to help you stay focused on the task at hand.

Tomato - Be Focused is an app for desktop and mobile Windows 10 devices that can help you take advantage of this technique to increase your overall efficiency. It needs a few improvements, but it is very easy to use.

It’s easier to remain focused if you have a clear objective in mind and know that a reward is in store, which is exactly what this app offers. It splits your time into work periods, during which you have to get things done, and break intervals for relaxation.

The added benefit is that you are reminded to get up from your desk and take a breather every once in a while, which is very good your health.

The user interface features a clean, minimalistic design, one that new users should have no problems getting accustomed to. You can modify the length of the intervals from the app’s Settings, as well as set a target for each day.

However, we noticed that notifications are not displayed while the application is minimized, so the main window has to remain on your desktop if you want to be alerted when a work or break period has ended.

An option to send the app to the system tray would also be more than welcome, as many users prefer to have as few items as possible in the taskbar.

When it comes down to it, Tomato - Be Focused is a pretty basic application that can, however, be very helpful. A couple of improvements need to be made, however, the most important issue being that notifications are not displayed while the app is minimized.
