Aquariums, reefs, and lakes are all aquatic words that for some reason fascinate us. Add some flora and fauna and you instantly have the recipe for a relaxing experience.

Underwater World 3D Screensaver is one of those screensavers that capitalizes on our love for water and everything that lives in it and brings that feeling to your desktop.

Every aspect of the screensaver's visuals has aged a lot by today's standards. The models are blocky, the textures are pixelated, especially the environmental ones, the lighting is all but inexistent and there are no shadows at all.

In fact, the only thing that gives you the impression that everything you see is underwater is the fact that the sharks and fish are swimming, the entire scene has a blue-ish hue to it, and there are water ripple effects projected on all surfaces. The animations are another letdown since all the fauna seems to be moving in a way that seems way too unnatural.

Given the low quality of the visuals by today's standards, you would at least expect that the app runs smoothly. Fortunately, it does and manages to run flawlessly, with constant FPS values and no performance spikes, although the animations may make it look like sometimes the screen lags.

However, if you are running this app on an older computer system, you should know that some of the graphics and audio features can be adjusted or disabled altogether ensuring that this app will run on pretty much any rig out there.

Compared to the other screensavers made by the same developer, this one must have been one of the first ever made, since many improvements were made on the other ones. This does not mean that Underwater World 3D Screensaver is not a good screensaver, it just means that there are others out there that look way better and use up pretty much the same system resources.
