The Internet is filled with all sort of applications and tools that you could use in order to make your job easier. One of such applications is Usability Studio. It allows you to perform usability tests using a webcam on your desktop.

The application doesn't take long to install and it doesn't come with a complicated setup that you would need to complete before you can actually use its features. It sports a really intuitive graphical interface with plenty of features at hand and some nice tools.

Usability Studio helps you to discover usability problems in desktop applications and websites. The software records the tester's facial expression, speech (voice and tone), and the actions that take place on the screen. You can further analyze the results of the study by viewing the recording one screen at a time.

The first thing that you need to do after launching the application is to create a new project and add a description to it. Project Manager is the application's main window. With the manager, you can create, edit and delete projects and tests, as well as manage the recording and viewing of test results.

It has a separate section that lists all tasks for a selected test. Each task appears with the duration value, which indicates how much time the tester has spent on completing the task.

It also has a separate section that shows test results without opening the internal player. If the selected test is already recorded, the old results will be removed so you would have them organized.

Files can be exported and viewed in a regular video player. With the internal player you can quickly view test results without having to export them to video. All in all, Usability Studio is a very nice application that you could use in order to perform usability tests using a webcam or their desktop.
