WM Recorder is a tool that enables you to record streaming audio and video from all over the web.

It supports several formats, including ASF, FLV, WMV, MPEG, MOV and MP3. The user interface consists of a small window which is, by default displayed in the lower right corner of the screen.

You can record footage in Real Time or from a captured URL, and you can also choose the automatic recording mode.

When it comes to recording in Real Time, you can start by inserting an URL and giving a name and format to the file. For the automatic recording mode, you simply open the browser or media player.

Once the "Record" button is enabled, you can visualize the whole capture by hitting the "View" button. You can preview one or more recording files, rename a recording file and turn your computer into an "on demand" media player.

Furthermore, you can capture stream in Adapter, Proxy, WMX or URL mode and check the Internet connection. You can also schedule a recording from the popup menu, edit or delete scheduled tasks, convert recordings, play the remote stream, enable the schedules at system startup, change the default output folder, and more.

The program uses a low amount of system resources and comes with an online help file. On the other hand, the program could have been better organized, so you can easily identify functions. Novice users could experience difficulties from this point of view.

The bottom line is that WM Recorder is a pretty good tool for recording audio and video, but it definitely needs some navigational improvements.
