Alive Text to Speech is a program that you can use to turn text into speech, by converting the documents to audio tracks - MP3, WAV, OGG, or VOX.

The interface of the application is based on a standard window where you can import items into the file list by using only the file browser, since the 'drag and drop' functionality is not included. Working with multiple files at the same time is possible.

The file queue provides the name, size and location of each entry. So, you can preview the speech, specify the output directory and format, and proceed with the conversion procedure.

In addition, you can configure audio settings when it comes to the sample rate, channel mode and bit rate. These options can be restored to their default values.

Plus, you can adjust the rate and volume of the speech, schedule tasks, make Alive Text to Speech automatically turn off the computer or open the output directory when the tasks are done, or to delete the target file when the task is canceled. Last but not least, you can write text in an editor, besides importing a document. The project may be saved for further evaluation.

The program runs on a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, has a good response time and quickly finishes a task. We have not encountered any problems in our tests; Alive Text to Speech did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. All in all, the app's features are easy to figure out, thanks to the intuitive layout.
