Backups are important in any computer work. Even if it never happened to you yet (very unlikely), you probably know people who lost important parts of projects because they forgot to save, or because the computer or the OS or the software itself crashed unexpectedly.

That’s why backups need to be made on a regular basis, but also in a way that doesn’t stop the flow of your work. Automatic Zip and Backup Folder Software is a tool that could do just that.

With a name as creative and attractive as an accountant’s secretary’s retirement party,  Automatic Zip and Backup Folder Software looks as it sounds. The interface has a nostalgic feel, taking you back to the days of Windows 98, when baby blue was the warmest color.

Still, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as everything you can and will do with this software is contained within this one rectangular window. No drop down menus, no size changes, nothing. It’s just a robust window with a few big buttons.

As unimaginative as its name may be, by no means does the software lack efficiency. First you add the folders that you want backed up (as ZIP archives), and then select how often you want this to happen. The time interval can vary from 5 minutes to 24 hours.

It can obviously be very useful if you’re working with more files at a time, like various drafts of the same text, different images, or even audio files. You just need to remember to save them in the same folder.

That’s pretty neat, huh? Still, for this price, you’d probably be better off finding a more complex backup solution, with a modern interface and a cooler sounding name.
