Averatec Drivers Update Utility is an intuitive and approachable software program made to help you download and install Averatec official drivers to update your old ones. It contains useful options, such as driver backup and restore.

Setting up this app is a fast and simple task that doesn't require special attention. Once it's over, you are greeted by a clean window with a well-structured layout, where you can get started by running a scan on your computer.

The program is capable of automatically detecting outdated drivers. These include the sound card, webcam, network adapter, USB, router, printer, wireless network, Windows XP and 7, chipset, monitor, video card, Bluetooth, AC97, motherboard, FireWire, Windows Vista, and DVD device.

Scan results show the name and new version of each driver, so you can select one or more drivers from the list and ask Averatec Drivers Update Utility to immediately download and install them. There's also a button for downloading all drivers.

As previously mentioned, the app supports a feature for backing up the current drivers to file in order to restore them later if any compatibility issues with Windows occur after installing the new ones. This way, you can revert changes and get the PC up and running as before.

As far as program preferences are concerned, you can include hidden devices in the driver scan, set the tool to automatically download all new versions after scan and to shut down the PC when all downloads are obtained, make it run at every Windows startup until further notice, as well as to download and install updates as soon as they're detected.

Settings can be saved or restored as default. Apart from the fact that the program gets sent to the system tray area on close, there are no other notable options available.

The tool didn't put a strain on the PC's performance in our tests, since it needed low CPU and memory to work properly. CPU and RAM consumption was low, and driver scan jobs were carried out swiftly.

On the other hand, the unregistered edition of Averatec Drivers Update Utility has some severe restrictions that don't permit you to properly test all its functions. On top of that, it hasn't been updated for a long time, and the price of the overall package seems too much.
