As its name implies, CheapestSoft Fast DVD Ripper allows you to rip DVD movies and encode them to other formats, namely AVI and MP4.

But it can also prepare items for VCD and SVCD videos, as well as extract the audio stream and store it as MP3 and AAC.

The interface of the app is plain and easy to work with. You can import a DVD video into the list by using only the folder view, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported. Unfortunately, you cannot process more than one item in a single session.

The file queue displays the title, chapters and duration of the DVD clip. So, you can specify the output destination and file type, in order to proceed with the encoding job with the default settings.

Advanced users can tinker with the audio and video settings when it comes to the quality, size, frame rate, codec, volume level, sample rate and channel mode. Unfortunately, you cannot restore settings to default or create output profiles.

But you can also preview clips in a built-in media player, select the audio track and subtitle language, as well as change the interface theme and set CheapestSoft Fast DVD Ripper to power off the computer when the task is done.

The DVD ripping tool runs on a moderate amount of system resources, in order to quickly finish a task. It has a good response time and includes user documentation. CheapestSoft Fast DVD Ripper did not freeze, crash or pop up errors during our tests.

However, the tool doesn't do a very good job when it come to maintaining a good image and sound quality. Plus, you cannot specify the number of CPU cores to be used or set CheapestSoft Fast DVD Ripper to open the output directory after conversion.
