Colorful Movie Editor is a feature-rich application designed for creating VCD, SVCD, DVD, DivX and XviD movies from other clips, with built-in transitions and a soundtrack. It supports several formats for the input, such as AVI, MPEG, ASF, WMV and RM.

The interface of the program is somewhat intuitive. After importing video clips into the workspace, you can add them to the storyboard by using the "drag and drop" functionality.

The same concept applies to transitions as well. Colorful Movie Editor provides several options in this case, such as "Wipe", "Slide", "Fall" and "Cross", along with a few effects ("Fade", "Pixelate", "Blur", "Emboss", "Engrave").

Once you select sound files to attach to the movie, you can make adjustments to the storyboard, in order to synchronize it with specific parts of the movies or transitions.

Also, it is possible to trim the videos by marking the start and end position, stretch the movie clip and adjust its speed. Results can be previewed in a built-in media player. Plus, you can convert the movie to a GIF animation or pictures (BMP format), or save the project to file for future modifications.

The video processing app runs on a moderate quantity of CPU and system memory, has a good response time and includes helpful tips. We have not come across any issues throughout our testing, since the tool did not hang, crash or display error notifications. To sum it up, Colorful Movie Editor provides users of all skill levels with some simple tools to create and produce amateur movies.
