Any writer has to deal with lack of inspiration at some point, and things only get worse if you are also having trouble staying focused on your work. Distractions are all around you, and we often lack the motivation we need to stick to the task at hand.

Dysprose is an interesting Windows 10 application that gives you all the motivation you need: keep writing or see your work fade away slowly until it is lost for good. It is clearly not your usual writing app, but it can have plenty of uses.

The idea behind this application is quite simple: if you stop writing for a period of time, the text will slowly begin to fade out; if you don’t start writing again until it disappears, you will not be able to recover it.

Naturally, using Dysprose is quite dangerous, as you are always at risk of losing everything you’ve worked on. If you want to play it a bit safer, you should stick to shorter sessions so that you can save your work more often.

The user interface is well designed, but it would have been great if some alternative color themes were available, or at least a single dark theme for users who aren’t fans of the bright white background.

You can customize the flow intensity freely, and the session duration can be set to any value between 1 and 60 minutes. If you enable the advanced mode, it is also possible to change the font size.

It goes without saying that Dysprose can be quite frustrating to use, as you may end up losing your work at any time. Nevertheless, it can push you to write down ideas you may have dismissed otherwise, as well as help you stay focused on the task at hand.
