FlashSlider is a program which enables you to create Flash videos (SWF) from images. It supports multiple formats for the input, namely JPG, PNG, GIF, TIFF and BMP.

The interface of the application resembles the one of Macromedia Flash, so you should be accustomed to some of its features, if you want to have an easy experience with FlashSlider.

Loading pictures into the storyboard environment (one or multiple items) can be done by using only the file browser, since the 'drag and drop' functionality is not included.

FlashSlider supplies users with a long list of transition effects to choose from, such as fading (using colors), gliding of the current or following slide, sliding and stretching.

In addition, you can resize pictures and change their position (stretch, left corner, center, or fit), as well as specify the delay time for the entire animation and each image. It is also possible to insert extra slides, set random effects, use the undo and redo functions.

A few adjustments can be made when it comes to the movie properties. Therefore, you can set the movie size, frames per second, background type (transparent or color) and sound, preloader, links and titles. Before publishing the movie with the SWF extension, you can preview it within the main application window, or save the project to file for further editing.

FlashSlider supports some keyboard shortcuts, includes a help file, and has a good response time. We have not encountered any issues throughout our testing; FlashSlider did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. However, the demo version does not allow you to publish projects to movies with the SWF format. We must also take into account the fact that FlashSlider has not been updated for a while.
