Assessing the connectivity and its representative parameters that pertain to Local Area Networks, can be performed in numerous ways, some easy, others more complex. LAN mapping is one such method, which allows users to discover any devices on the network and their corresponding connectivity.

Aiming at offering a tool for performing network mapping, MapPing will provide users with a command-line-based solution that accepts pre-defined inputs in order to scan and perform the required detections on the network that users are currently connected to.

The application can also be deployed from portable devices, such as USB flash drives or hard drives since it doesn’t write any inputs to the Windows registry. In order to initialize the scanning process, users need to run the command-line and the corresponding x86 or x64 executable. During the scanning process, they will be able to preview the progress and the resulting output of the scanning process can be yielded to a TXT or CSV format file.

Users must note that the application works best when used on wired Local Area Networks, like usage with wireless or hybrid networks could cause variation in the scan results, because of the influence of numerous parameters.
