PDF Image Extractor is a simple-to-use program that, as the name suggests, allows users to extract images from PDF documents. It is capable of preserving their original format and converting them to a different one, as well as to carry out this task for multiple PDFs at the same time.

Installing the app is easy and fast. Its clean and intuitive interface make PDF Image Extractor accessible to any type of users, even the ones with little or no prior experience in software programs.

PDFs can be imported to the task list using either the file browser, folder view or drag-and-drop method. As previously mentioned, batch processing is supported, so you can extract pictures from multiple documents at once.

This list is filled with information about the docs, such as name, size, format, output destination and full path. It is possible to export this list to file and import it at a later time to resume conversion projects. A real-time search function is provided for browsing long lists.

As far as conversion settings are concerned, you can modify the default output directory and, optionally create a new folder for each PDF, as well as choose the image format between the original one, PDF, JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIF and TIFF. The saving directory can be reset to its default location.

Other options of PDF Image Extractor insert files at the currently selected position in the list, re-arrange entries, export only the selected or failed list to file, as well as show file properties (just like in Windows Explorer).

Conversion tasks finish in no time, while PDF Image Extractor uses low-to-moderate CPU and RAM, so its impact on PC performance is almost insignificant. It contains a touch mode for the interface, giving the app the Windows 8 look and feel. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation. All in all, PDF Image Extractor gets the job done.
