YASA MPEG Encoder is an application designed to help you convert media files (e.g. 3GP, AVI, ASF, MP3, OGG) to multiple formats, including MPG, VOB, AVI, 3GP, RM, WMA, WAV and OGG.

The tool has a standard interface which allows importing media files via the file browser only, since the "drag and drop" functionality is not supported. Plus, you can convert multiple media files at once.

In the file queue you can find out the source and default output directory and extension, duration, size and status for each item. Once the target folder and profile have been set, you can immediately start the conversion with the default settings.

Experienced users can fiddle with advanced options regarding audio and video parameters; these involve the bit rate (minimum and maximum values, tolerance), frame rate and size, buffer size, aspect ratio, cropping and padding, sampling rate, channels, volume and codecs.

Furthermore, you can preview videos in a media player and trim them (by setting the start and end time), edit metadata, change the default output directory, transfer items to PSP devices, view codec logs and switch to a different skin for the interface.

The media conversion tool can take a while to complete a task while using a high amount of system resources. It has a good response time and comes with a step-by-step guide. YASA MPEG Encoder didn't freeze, crash or pop up errors during our tests. The output videos have a fair image and sound quality but it could have been better.

Unfortunately, you do not have the possibility to create output profiles. On the same note, you cannot configure the program to automatically turn off the computer after conversion or to minimize to the system tray or specify the thread priority. However, we must keep in mind the fact that YASA MPEG Encoder has not received any updates in a very long time.
