Aplus Video Converter is a program designed to help you turn video files into other formats (e.g. WMV, MPEG) or prepare them for Apple TV, Pocket PC, Youtube, Zune and mobile phones, among others. The app can also extract the audio stream and save it to MP3.

The interface of the tool is dull and uncomplicated. Video clips can be imported into the file list by using only the file browser because the 'drag and drop' method is not supported. Handling multiple entries simultaneously is possible.

In the file queue you can find out the initial and output name and format, start and end time, along with the progress of each item. By specifying the output directory and profile, you can start the conversion operation with the default settings.

Skilled users can fiddle with the audio and video properties when it comes to the type, size, quality, frame rate, aspect ratio, channel mode, sample rate and volume level. Unfortunately, you cannot create output profiles or restore settings to default.

Furthermore, you can make Aplus Video Converter automatically turn off the computer and add MP4 files to iTunes when all tasks are done, as well as edit metadata (e.g. author, year, comments) and preview videos in a built-in media player.

The video conversion tool needs a moderate amount of system resources, is pretty responsive and completes a job in reasonable time. We have not come across any issues throughout our testing; Aplus Video Converter did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. First-time users can seamlessly get familiarized to the environment, thanks to Aplus Video Converter's intuitive layout.
