Word Reader is a tool which enables you to view Word files in a user-friendly environment. Make sure not to confuse it with Word editors, such as Microsoft Word or OpenOffice Writer.

The interface of the program is simplistic and easy to navigate through. Documents (DOC, DOCX, RTF, TXT, HTML) can be imported by using the file browser only, because the "drag and drop" method is not supported.

So, you can save a copy of the current document, attach it to an email, view file properties and configure printing settings.

In addition, you can use the undo, redo, cut, copy and paste functions along with a search tool, zoom in and out, disable toolbars and change the viewing mode (reading, page or full screen).

On top of that, you can go to a particular page, change the font size and background color, use a hand or selection tool, change the interface language, as well as convert documents to other formats (e.g. DOC, PDF, HTML), and more.

The simple-to-use software takes up a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, supports several keyboard shortcuts and didn't freeze or crash during our tests. However, it popped up several errors when we accessed the printing function.

Also, the option to convert documents from the File menu is not functional (but the one from the toolbar works just fine)l. All in all, Word Reader is a pretty good application and we strongly  recommend it to all users.
