There are quite a few music streaming services out there, with YouTube somehow managing to double as a video and music streaming platform. Before other music streaming services came about, YouTube was among the primary sources for streaming one's favorite tunes.

Though the landscape has changed since then, YouTube is still a major player in this game. Ykia Music is a client through which one can listen to their favorite songs on YouTube without having to open their browser, nor waste any bandwidth on streaming a music video.

Perhaps the first thoughts that may come to mind are related to the design of the interface. Though the app is very much its own thing, its design is a bit reminiscent of the one used on Apple Music. That's not necessarily a bad thing, however, as navigating to your favorite songs and artists should be no trouble at all, and won't require much effort.

The Home page will display a few popular songs and playlists. In our case, we got a bunch of Christmas songs recommendations, sprinkled with some R&B, Jazz, and some other festive stuff.

For users who want to listen to the most recent popular songs, the Explore tab might be worth visiting. Though being called Explorea, likely owing to a small typo, is a bit funny, you can nevertheless expect to find some content there. If it is up your alley or not, however, is a different matter.

You're free to look up any artist, album, or song through the Search bar, which should bring you closer to whatever it is you want to listen to. The sound quality is serviceable, and there were no playback errors during our testing.

It should be noted that some features are unavailable in the Free version. You cannot access the My Library section, which would allow you to see your recent listening habits, nor are you able to download any tunes from the platform.

Though Free users may not be able to create playlists, mark songs as favorite, and see their listening history, Ykia Music can nevertheless work decently. If you decide to spring for Premium, the app is quite solid overall.
